The Culture of Beauty.
A classroom resource and all-around entertaining guide for teens about the culture of beauty and putting it in perspective: from the strange things people have done through history to enhance their looks, to why advertising thrives on insecurities.
Nearly a decade after first publishing In Your Face, Annick Press approached me to create a fresh look for the second edition to appeal to a new batch of adolescent readers now in the totally mystifying Gen Z category. The magazine-inspired layout relies on multiple columns, bold headlines, sidebars, charts, and edgy artwork by Karen Klassen and Katy Lemay.
